AUBURN — A behavioral incident with a student at Saint Dominic Academy was investigated and resolved by the school before police were called, the diocese said.
Police officers were dispatched to the school at 121 Gracelawn Road on Nov. 14 regarding an earlier incident with a student. Not many details of the incident publicly available.
The academy handled the situation, which it calls a behavior-related event, with a student last week, following standard policy, according to Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland Director of Communications Molly DiLorenzo.
The school engaged in an action plan appropriate to the severity of the behavior, DiLorenzo said in an email to the Sun Journal. An internal investigation confirmed that the student’s behavior posed no credible threat to the school or community.
Local police have affirmed the steps taken by the school to address the situation, she said. Parents were made aware of the situation.
School officials notified the police department of the incident after the school had conducted an investigation, Deputy Chief Tim Cougle said in an email to the Sun Journal. He confirmed that the student had been removed from school, with a risk assessment completed and mental health evaluation scheduled.
