Norway stalker rearrested before the ink on plea deal dries

OXFORD — Anthony Aldrich, the Norway man who was accused of stalking three teenage girls in Oxford Hills and then stalking a woman in Clinton in July, was arrested Nov. 11 and accused of repeatedly violating no trespass orders to enter the Nouria convenience store on Main Street in Oxford.

According to a Nov. 14 statement from Detective Brandon Correia of the Oxford Police Department: “On Nov. 2, Officer Andre Chasse of the Oxford Police Department responded to a trespassing incident at Nouria.

“The suspect, Anthony Aldrich, violated a verbal trespass notice issued just two days prior, which also violated his bail conditions. Despite being instructed not to contact an employee at the store, Anthony entered Nouria on Monday.

“A trespass notice was then issued by (the store’s) visiting manager Rick Dennis, and surveillance footage confirmed Anthony’s return to the store on Wednesday. After an unsuccessful search at Anthony’s residence [on Pleasant Street], Officer Douglas from the Paris Police Department located him and confirmed his admission of violating the trespass notice.”

Aldrich, 52, appeared at Oxford County District Court on Nov. 7, where he pleaded guilty to one charge of stalking. The other two charges were dismissed.

Aldrich was also facing three vehicle charges from Feb. 17: driving to endanger, failing to stop for an officer and motor vehicle speeding 30+ MPH over the speed limit. On Nov. 7, after pleading guilty to failure to stop, the other two driving charges were dropped.

Following his court appearance, Aldrich was released on personal recognizance.

Sentencing for his guilty plea was deferred for one year. Under the terms of the plea deal, Aldrich was to not have direct or indirect contact with the young woman or two other teens he was previously accused of stalking, and to continue taking medications as prescribed.

Det. Correia’s Nov. 14 press release continued: “On Nov. 11, Officer Chasse, with the assistance of Detective Correia, apprehended Anthony at the Oxford Casino. Anthony admitted to violating the trespass notice but denied entering the store.

“Subsequently, Officer Chasse arrested Anthony and transported him to the Oxford County Jail. Two summonses were issued for Violation of Conditions of Release (VCR) and criminal trespass. Aldrich signed the summonses, indicating his court appearance scheduled for February 15, 2024, at 08:30 a.m.”

Aldrich was released on bail from Oxford County Jail the same day.

Aldrich was accused of following a teenage girl to an Oxford home Feb. 12. He followed the female onto the porch, and then unlawfully entered the residence behind her. After being confronted by the homeowner he drove away in a red 2005 Honda CR-V. The following day he was again seen driving by the female while she was at a sports practice in Norway.

Both incidents were reported to the Oxford Police Department, which arrested Aldrich on Feb. 16 on stalking and burglary charges.

Then, last July, Aldrich was arrested in a similar incident in Clinton after he followed a woman to her home from I-95. He pulled into her driveway and approached her as she was still in her car. As in the Feb. 12 case in Oxford, when the woman’s husband confronted Aldrich he returned to his car and drove away. He was arrested that night in Norway.

According to Clinton Police Chief Stanley “Rusty” Bell, Norway police found a knife in Aldrich’s vehicle when he was pulled over and referred to the event as “terrifying.”
