In these divisive times, functional collaboration among elected officials is more important than ever.
As chairperson of the Lewiston School Committee, I have experienced firsthand how a lack of collaboration and communication between the mayor, City Council, and School Committee can negatively impact our functioning on the school side. This is often apparent during budget season, but is important at all other times as well.
As mayor, Carl Sheline has been present at School Committee meetings, not only when scheduled for joint School Committee/City Council meetings but at various times as an audience member in order to stay informed.
Carl has kept a clear line of communication open for updates to important issues, inquiries on subjects he has fielded in the community, and just to check in.
This is the level of collaboration and engagement I expect from our mayor, and for these reasons I hope the community votes for Carl Sheline for mayor on Dec. 12.
