100 Years Ago: 1923
The committee in charge of the 22nd annual Auburn Fireman’s ball wishes to thank the following firms for their generous cooperation: Bradford-Conant Co., furnishings for the cozy corner; George M. Roak Co. for the flowers and plants and Griffin and Boynton for the beautiful decorations.
The crowd was estimated at more than a thousand and was so large that many suggested that the fire department laddies would have to hire the armory soon if their patronage keeps increasing. The committee has not figures yet but feels that a good amount will be realized for its charitable work this winter.
Frank Jackson was general chairman.
The entertainment was excellent and included a mainstreet show staged by Arthur Cloutier.
50 Years Ago: 1973

25 Years Ago: 1998
On Oct 8 at the Augusta Senator Inn, Lindsay Mae Bryant, 8 of Auburn was crowned this year’s 7-8 year old “Petite” Division of the American Princess Pageant. She was also crowned overall western wear model. Contestants traveled from Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Lindsey worked on the newest Stephen King movie, “Storm of the Century,” this past summer. It was filmed in Southwest Harbor, Maine and Toronto, Canada.
