Lewiston and Auburn have issued winter parking bans beginning at 9 p.m. Sunday, according to officials.
Lewiston’s parking ban is in effect until 6 a.m. Monday and Auburn’s until noon.
The bans require all vehicles be removed from each city’s streets so public works crews can remove snow.
For Sunday night, the National Weather Service has forecasted 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulation and winds gusting to 20 mph in the Twin Cities.
The forecast for Monday includes a 70% chance of snow showers and freezing rain, with less than an inch of snow accumulation.
Lewiston offers five garages for free parking during the ban: Centerville Garage at 62 Canal St., 62 Chestnut St., 16 Lincoln St., 1 Oak St. and Southern Gateway Garage at 425 Lisbon St.
Parking fees begin at 6 a.m., when the ban ends.

Auburn has eight winter relief parking lots available to the public for free, but requires a permit that can only be obtained from the Auburn Police Department. Vehicles can remain parked in those lots until midnight on the day a ban expires.
Exceptions include Mechanics Row Parking Garage and the Second Street winter relief lot.
