LEWISTON — The Lewiston Public Library will host a community meal and conversation Tuesday evening in Callahan Hall to “provide solace and strength” in the aftermath of the Oct. 25 mass shooting, according to a news release.
The gathering will feature food from DaVinci’s Eatery, a performance by Pihcintu Multinational Children’s Chorus and small group conversations for those who want to speak about their experiences. Groups for first responders and youths will also be offered.
“This community-driven initiative seeks to create a space for residents to come together, share their thoughts and feelings, and forge connections that will contribute to the healing process,” the release said.
The Lewiston Public Library recognized the importance of maintaining community during hard times and created the event to provide a supportive space for healing. Pihcintu’s performance will be the highlight of the event, as singers hope to bring comfort, hope and healing to the community and to foster unity and resilience through the universal language of music.
The event runs 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday. Event walk-ins are welcome, but registration ahead of time is appreciated so organizers have key information, accommodations and interpretation services specifically, to make the event fulfilling for all. To register, visit this site.
