100 Years Ago: 1923

The record of three Lewiston sisters, who celebrate their birthdays the same week is beaten by the three children of Mrs. Elizabeth Caton of Durham, Florence, Julia and Bernice. The birthdays of all three fall on the same day, December 11.

50 Years Ago: 1973

Harry Grimm and Yvon Gilbert of the L&A Machine and Welding Co., Auburn, show off a new wood-coal stove they’ve just designed for the energy crisis. It’s the first stove they’ve ever manufactured and they invited Fire Chief Ralph Adams, of the Auburn Fire Department to look it over before they tried it out. He considers it safe.

25 Years Ago: 1998

The winner of the local contest from Central Maine Christian Academy to design a fire escape plan as part of Fire Safety Week, Chad Jones is pictured by the Lewiston Fire Truck which delivered him to school. Pictured with Chad is Lt. Brian Bernier, Pvt. Shawn Sanford, and sitting in the truck is Pvt. Alton Webster.
