BETHEL — Telstar High School’s outdoor pavilion is complete and ready for classes in ecology, history and logging and farming traditions of the area.
School Administrative District 44 Superintendent Mark Kenney received approval from the Bethel Planning Board in August for the 20- by 40-foot classroom.
Students in Elke Blauss’ science class designed it after seeing similar spaces at other schools.
Chris Barstow of Specialty Timberworks Greenwood built the pavilion.
A state grant for $250,000 state grant from Rethinking Remote Education Ventures paid for the project.
Future plans for the area near the pavilion include building a sugar shack, a school store and a courtyard with a raised bed garden and a pollinator garden.
