The city of Lewiston seeks resident volunteers to serve as members of the city’s various boards and committees.

The following city panels have openings: Board of Appeals, Board of Assessment Review, Airport Committee, Community Development Block Grant Review Committee, Complete Streets Committee, Finance Committee, Historic Preservation Review Board, Housing Committee, Housing/Urban Renewal Authority, Lewiston and Auburn Railroad Company Board, Lewiston Senior Advisory Council, Library Board of Trustees, and the Planning Board.

Residents interested in applying can contact or visit the City Clerk’s Department at 207-513-3124 or Lewiston City Hall, 27 Pine St. Application forms also are available on the Boards and Committees page at lewistonmaine.gov.

Committee descriptions, meeting times, and other information about committee service are also available on the city’s website. Applications can be submitted at any time and will be accepted until the positions are filled, but the requested filing deadline is 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26.

Because of residency requirements in the City Charter, neither the Board of Appeals nor the Planning Board may have more than two members serving simultaneously from the same wards. This provision is to ensure adequate and balanced representation from all sections of the city.

Residents can call the City Clerk’s Department at 207-513-3124 with questions. Completed applications must be submitted to that department for processing; office hours run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
