GRAY — Johnny Patenaude buried eight 3-pointers and finished with 26 points, and Gray-New Gloucester shot its way to a 75-44 WMC boys basketball victory over Wells on Thursday.
Nate Hebert finished with 12 points and Colby Mitchell had 11 for the Patriots (6-1), who opened the game with a 21-3 run.
Jeremy Therrien led the Warriors (4-2) with 20 points. Tanner Fifield scored nine.
MT. ABRAM 77, WATERVILLE 28: Payton Mitchell had a game-high 26 points as the Roadrunners breezed past the Purple Panthers at the Augusta Civic Center.
Cam Frost-Gray added 22 points for Mt. Abram (4-0) in the win.
Derek Couture led the way with nine points for Waterville (0-5).
WISCASSET 54, BUCKFIELD 46: Alex Richard scored eight of his 16 points in the first quarter as the Wolverines (3-1) grabbed a lead they never relinquished in a win over the Bucks (2-3) at Wiscasset.
Spencer Pinkham added 10 points.
Krosby Harvey scored 17 points for Buckfield. Justin Lucas finished with 10.
LEWISTON 44, DEERING 43: Lonnie Thomas scored 20 points, including 14 in the second half, and visiting Lewiston held on to earn its first victory of the season, 44-43, at Deering.
Abdirahman Dakane and Jeffery Randall added eight points apiece for the Blue Devils (1-5)
The Rams (2-5), who got 18 points from Evan Legassey, were down three with a final possession but couldn’t get a tying 3-point shot attempt and settled for Justin Jamal’s basket as time wound down.
TELSTAR/GOULD 60, SACOPEE VALLEY 48: Silas Nielsen notched a triple-double with 11 points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks, but the Hawks (1-5) fell to the Rebels (3-2) in Bethel.
Dylan Capano scored 17 points for Sacopee Valley.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 65, DIRIGO 14: Ella Giguere recorded 16 steals to go with 15 points leading the Panthers (4-0) to a win over the Cougars (1-3) in Yarmouth.
Graca Bila tossed in 14 points and Athena Gee had 10 for NYA.
Lana Waite scored seven points for Dirigo.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 57, WELLS 39: Izzy Morelli scored 16 points and Ella Kenney added 14 as the Patriots (6-1) cruised past the Warriors (5-2) in Wells.
Ellie Steele chipped in with 10 points for GNG, which jumped out to a 17-1 advantage after the first quarter.
Maren Maxon led Wells with 18 points. Payton Fazzina knocked down three 3-pointers for nine points.
SOUTH PORTLAND 52, EDWARD LITTLE 36: Emma Travis paced the offense with 19 points, and the Red Riots (4-3) took control with a 17-6 third-quarter advantage against the Red Eddies (3-4) in South Portland.
Annie Whitmore added 13 points.
Layla Facchiano led Edward Little with 16 points.
MT. ARARAT 49, OXFORD HILLS 39: A balanced attack and a second-quarter rally sent the Eagles (6-0) past the Vikings (2-2) in Topsham.
Kennedy Lampert, Julianna Allen and Cali Pomerleau each scored nine points for Mt. Ararat, which outscored Oxford Hills 12-5 in the second quarter after trailing 13-11. Eight players scored for the Eagles.
Ella Pelletier poured in a game-high 22 points for the Vikings, who were without outside shooter Tristen Derenburger. Gabbie Tibbetts and Milo Seams scored six points apiece and Maddy Miller added five.
