The University of Maine football team announced on its social media accounts on Tuesday that Leavitt senior Jace Negley will be joining the team next season.
The 6-foot-2, 275-pound Negley was a standout on the offensive and defensive lines for the Hornets. He is listed as a defensive lineman on the Black Bears’ social media posts.
Negley also announced his commitment to the state’s lone NCAA Division I school through social media.
After a very successful high school career I am honored to announce I will be continuing my football journey at the University of Maine. Huge thank you to my coaches and teammates for shaping me into the player I am today, also huge thank you to my parents.@BlackBearsFB pic.twitter.com/PaBfAA3rL3

“After a very successful high school career, I am honored to announce I will be continuing my football journey at the University of Maine. Huge thank you to my coaches and teammates for shaping me into the player I am today, also huge thank you to my parents,” Negley wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Negley is the second senior on Leavitt’s back-to-back state championship teams to commit to playing football at UMaine. Noah Carpenter was announced as part of the Black Bears’ early signing period additions last month.
