MT. ABRAM 44, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 37: Bailea Hanes helped the Roadrunners (3-3) pull away in the fourth quarter and notch a win over the Falcons (1-4) in Salem Township.

Hanes scored eight of her game-high 16 points in the fourth, which began with the scored tied 26-26 but Mt. Abram outscored Mountain Valley 18-11.

Abby McCarty and Sakari Savage each contributed seven points for the Roadrunners, and McKenzie Contreras and Jenna Osgood added five apiece.

The Falcons’ offense was even more balanced. Ella Young scored a team-high eight, Ali Mazza had seven, Brooke Brown and Brooke Bennett tallied five apiece, and Madison Down and Maisy Chase each scored four.

MONMOUTH 61, OAK HILL 32: Three double-digit scorers led the Mustangs (1-5) to their first win of the season, against the Raiders (0-4) in Monmouth.

Rileigh Chase put up a game-high 16 points, Kaitlyn Frost had 13 and Reese Beaudoin scored 12 for Monmouth, which poured in 27 points in the third quarter. Maeve Burgess and Tarynn Keleher added eight apiece.

Mackenzee Wardwell was Oak Hill’s top scorer with 10 points, and Aubrey McElhaney finished with eight points.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 65, MARANACOOK 31: The Phoenix (4-1) seized control early and dealt the Black Bears (4-1) their first loss of the season in Jay.

Spruce Mountain outscored Maranacook 16-4 in the opening quarter and led 32-10 at halftime.

Jazmine Pingree paced the Phoenix’s offensive attack with 22 points, which included three 3-pointers and 5-for-5 shooting at the free-throw line. Avery Bessey added 12 points, Jaydn Pingree had 11, Aubrey Kachnovich 10 and Maddie Grimaldi scored eight.

Natalie Mohlar led the Black Bears with 18 points.

MADISON 54, TELSTAR 29: Raegan Cowan had 17 points to lead the Bulldogs to the win in Madison.

Kylee Furbush added 13 points for Madison (5-0).

Morgan Zetts finished with 12 points for Telstar (2-3).

BOYS BASKETBALL
TEMPLE 56, BUCKFIELD 42: Nathan Corey scored 13 of his game-high 25 points in the first quarter as the Bereans (3-3) jumped out to a big lead at home against the Bucks (2-4) in Waterville.

Peyton Reckards added 16 points for Temple, which led 21-5 after one quarter. Reckards scored 14 of his points from inside the arc, plus two free throws, while Corey’s five 3-pointers made up the majority of his scoring.

Krosby Harvey paced Buckfield with 16 points and Gaven Parsons pitched in with 13.
