Beverly D. Hanrahan

AUBURN – Beverly D. Hanrahan, a woman whose life was full of love, laughter, and boundless joy, peacefully departed this world Thursday Dec. 28, surrounded by her beloved family. She graced us with her presence for more than 81 remarkable years.

Born on July 17, 1942 in Portland, Beverly was the cherished daughter of Aaron and Doris (Ballard) Danielsen. A graduate of Portland High School, she excelled academically, earning her diploma with Cum Laude honors in 1960. Her journey into the professional world led her to administrative and managerial roles in banking and insurance, culminating in her retirement from Patron’s Insurance in 2012.

She married the love of her life, Donald G. Spugnardi, on April 4, 1964 at Sacred Heart Church in Portland, Maine. Together they raised two daughters, Christina and Kathleen. Tragically, Donald’s passing in 1974 marked a challenging chapter in Beverly’s life. Yet, she found love once more in David N. Hanrahan, with whom she shared 41 beautiful years as a blended family, embracing David’s daughter, Heidi (Slighter), as her own. After David’s passing in 2018, she recently found solace and companionship among the staff and friends at the Sarah Frye Home.

Beverly possessed a radiant spirit and an overflowing heart, evident in her fondness for hugs, noisy kisses, and her unwavering love for family and friends. Beverly was remarkably talented at knitting and crocheting, gifting her creations to loved ones every chance she could get. She was known for her ability to light up a room with her infectious laughter and unforgettable chicken jokes.

Preceded in death by her parents, her sister Silvia, and both of her beloved husbands, Beverly is survived by her loving daughters, Christina and Kathleen, along with their respective spouses, Jim Puckey and David Bisson, her cherished stepdaughter Heidi and her husband Scott Slighter; as well as her adoring grandchildren, Kaelina, Noah, Kristen, Jessica, Emma, Max, and Justin along with many great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews who will continue to cherish her memory. Her guiding words, “The best is yet to be”. Better days are coming. Love you the most-est and love you the moistest!” shall forever echo in our hearts.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at the Sarah Frye Home and Beacon Hospice for their exceptional care and unwavering compassion during Beverly’s final journey.

A memorial service to celebrate Beverly’s extraordinary life will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by a joyous celebration of her life at 4:00 p.m. at Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston. Burial will be held later in the Spring at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lewiston.
