AUBURN – It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Don W. Smith on Dec. 29, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was known by many other names such as Donnie and Roundman, but to our family he was Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Neighbor.
He was born in Lewiston on Oct. 25, 1950, to Al and Marilyn Smith. He was raised in Oxford and graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1970.
In 1977 he became the first employee of Oxford Homes where he remained their head welder until he retired in 2008. He loved racing at OPS and teaching his kids and grandkids how to work on cars.
33 years ago he married his final wife, Nancy, whom he is survived by. He is also survived by his children Nicole, Nate and Cody and their spouses,; and his brother AJ Smith. He was proud to be a grandpa to 10 grandchildren and also has a great granddaughter on the way.
Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 13 at the Oxford Congregational Church on King Street in Oxford at 1 p.m. with refreshments to follow.
