Margaret E. (Groves) Theriault

AUBURN – Margaret “Peg” Theriault passed away peacefully at the age of 92 of natural causes at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, on Dec. 12, 2023. She was born April 27,1931, the daughter of Henry G. Groves and Viola H. (Veazie) Groves.

Peg attended school in Auburn, graduating from Edward Little High School in the class of 1949. She attended Cambridge School of Boston. Upon her return to Auburn, she began working for Dr. M. Goldman as an office assistant. She returned to the work force after raising her four children in various work settings at the Auburn Water District in clerical support, Sherwood Heights Elementary School working with special needs students and McDonald’s in Lewiston where she started as a crew member and attaining a manager position from which she retired. After retirement, Peg worked with her husband Harvey in their appraisal business.

Peg married Joseph “Harvey” Theriault June 21, 1952, in Auburn at the Sixth Street Congregational Church. Together they raised four children in the home they built on family land. They were both members of the Sixth Street Congregational Church for many years.

She is survived by her children, Kathy (Edward) Talpey of Georgia, Bruce (Carol) Theriault of Lisbon, Linda (Fred) Morton of Poland; grandchildren Seth (Elizabeth) Morton of Oregon and Adam Talpey (Crystal) of Auburn; great grandchildren Erin Morton of Oregon, Jayden, Madelynn and Paxton Palmer of Auburn, Aden Holcomb of Georgia. She is also survived by special family members Linda Desantis of Auburn, Sandra and Eva Pomerantz of New York and Nancy Wilkins of Lewiston and by her sisters Beverly Littlefield of Massachusetts and Patricia Bellegarde of Auburn.

Peg was predeceased by her husband, Harvey; son Mark; and granddaughter Erin; as well as siblings Ernest, Verna Kebler, Elmer, Henry Jr. Robert (Bob) Groves.

Services will be held in the spring of 2024 with interment at Pine Street Cemetery, Auburn, Maine. Funeral arrangements by Funeral Alternatives, Tampa Street, Lewiston, Me.
