LEWISTON – Normand Andre Fournier, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Dec. 27, 2023, at the age of 81.

Normand was born on Oct. 3, 1942, in Lewiston, son of Maurice and Gertrude Fournier. He was the oldest child of three, survived by younger brother, Gerry Fournier, and younger sister, Judy Woodcock.

Normand attended St Peters elementary school and was a proud graduate of St. Dom’s High School, Class of 1960. He was a hardworking and dedicated man who was a well-respected member of the Lewiston community. He served in the US Air Force stationed in Tacoma Washington and served as a Chaplain assistant during his service. He spent most of his working life as an employee of Bath Iron Works for over 45 years, starting as a ship fitter dept 50 and with his strong work ethic worked his way up to Foreman in the AB Building. Even after his retirement he would visit the Shipyard with his Golden hard hat and meet up with his coworkers for breakfast.

Normand was an avid candlepin bowler who made appearances on televised bowling competitions, played hockey and excelled at anything he tried. His true passion was traveling with Sandy and his pets in his RV. He joined and became President of the Pine Tree Gypsies where he formed lifelong friendship with the other members.

He was a loving father who taught his children the importance of work ethics and respect. Normand was a loving husband to his wife of 54 years, Sandra Fournier, and a devoted father to his children, Rebecca Fournier, Marc Fournier, and Tom Fournier. He loved his role as Pepe to Cassandra, Desiree, Aidan, Sebastian, Amazalie “Ally”, Genevive “Gena”, and Williams; and well as great Pepe to Damien, Aiden, Owen and Genevie.

Normand will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit, his dedication to his family, and his strong work ethic. He was a friend to many and was always willing to give a hand up to a person who was struggling whether it was with money, family issues or substance problems. He will be deeply missed by his family and everyone who had the pleasure to know him.

A celebration of Normand’s life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6 at The Fortin Group Funeral Home in Auburn. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with an in house service at 5:30. All are welcome after to join a gathering at Marco’s restaurant in Lewiston for food and a continued celebration of life.

Normand’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
