SANFORD, Maine (AP) — A Maine police department says the DNA profile of a convicted bank robbery helped lead to the indictment of the man in the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in the town of Sanford.
Police say a York County Grand Jury indicted Dane Bosley on charges of gross sexual assault, kidnapping and other offenses stemming from the Oct. 8, 2008 assault on the girl who he allegedly encountered behind the Sanford Armory.
After the attack, police couldn’t locate a suspect, but they collected evidence from the scene and the victim.
Last year the 22-year-old Bosley was convicted of robbing a Sanford bank and sent to federal prison, where he provided a DNA sample.
Sanford police say evidence collected from the 2008 sexual assault matched Bosley’s DNA.
