LEWISTON — The Lewiston Public Library will close its doors for the remainder of the year, citing its concern with the city’s rising COVID-19 cases, officials announced in a statement Monday.
The closure, which will be effective immediately, applies to only general access to the public, while the children’s department will be open for browsing at a limited capacity. The library will continue to offer LPL To Go door pickup during normal business hours as well, according to the statement posted on its Facebook page.
The library suggested reopening Jan. 8, provided the number of cases decreases. It will reevaluate before then and issue any updates.
