LEWISTON — The Lewiston girls hockey team turned a close game into a rout with an eight-goal second period in a 13-0 win over St. Dom’s/Gray-New Gloucester/Winthrop/Monmouth at The Colisee on Wednesday.
The Blue Devils (5-1) took a 1-0 lead — on a goal by Alyssa Marcoux — into the second frame. Leah Landry and Leah Dube started the second-period onslaught, each scoring to make the lead 3-0. Landry scored two other goals in the second. Lilly Gish and Toree St. Hilaire got on on the action with two goals apiece, and after two periods, Lewiston had built a 9-0 cushion.
Lewiston scored four more times in the third, including goals by Sadie Morgan and St. Hilaire.
LEWISTON 11, ST. DOMINIC 3: The Blue Devils (1-1) put the game out of the Saints’ (0-3) reach with six consecutive goals in the second period at The Colisee in Lewiston.
First-period goals by Cam Morin, Colby Daigle, Cody Dionne and Andrew Theriault gave Lewiston a 4-1 lead heading into the second period.
Then the Blue Devils pulled away. Evan Knowlton started the second-period scoring with a goal set up by Daigle and Ethan Blue. Jaden Maynard made it 6-1. After that were four power-play goals: Blue, Andon Cox, Maynard and Knowlton.
Tanner Anctil added a short-handed goal in the third.
Anctil, Blue, Cox and Knowlton finished with two assists apiece for the Blue Devils, while Daigle, Adrien Theriault, Charlie Foster and Colten Daniels each set up one goal.
Arvid Anderson was in on all three St. Dom’s goals. He set up Tim Ouellette in the first period and scored one in the second and one in the third. Colin Casserly assisted on both of Ouellette’s goals.
