LEWISTON — Museum L-A plans to host Mike Rancourt of Rancourt & Co this month , who will discuss the creation of the footwear worn by Team USA at the Olympics.
The talk is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at the 35 Canal St. museum.
Rancourt & Co are the crafters of boots for three U.S. Olympic teams, most recently the opening and closing ceremony boots for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic games. Working with global brand Ralph Lauren from concept to creation, Rancourt & Co. continues the long tradition of fine shoe making in the region, according to a news release from the museum.
A discussion of the process and production will be followed by time for an open question-and-answer session. One in-person attendee will be chosen to have a pair of Team USA boots custom crafted by Rancourt & Co., not available for retail sale.
Registration to attend in-person is recommended, and is required for the livestream.
The evening is the first in the Made In Maine series offered by Museum L-A. Made in Maine will spotlight businesses making an impact locally, regionally, nationally and globally that continue a long tradition of exceptional craftsmanship and industry in the region.
