The Buckfield High School drama, “Cranberry Corners,” given by the Senior class at Nezinscot Hall Friday evening was very well done. James Emery as Hezekiah Hopkins, Laura Parlin as Mrs. Muslin, Irma Conant as Carlotta Bannister and Florence Childs as Anistasia Bannister were especially good. Between acts three and four, the Misses Childs and Conant sang a beautiful duet in a very pleasing manner. The house was crowded to the doors and the dance with music by Bacon’s orchestra of Lewiston was well patronized. A good sum was realized by the class.

Something new was tried for a Junior-Senior Prom Friday evening when the young people from St. Dominic Regional High School traveled to Winthrop for the event which highlights the teen social season each spring. The prom was held in the Ponderosa Room of the Steer House which, in itself, provided an attractive backdrop. A Mexican theme was chosen and waiters were wearing sombreros and there were special party favors to create the proper atmosphere. The girls were particularly pretty in the gowns fashioned along the lines of yesteryear, long, colorful, and very feminine. The tuxedos chosen by the boys also added color because they are no longer the drab and somber black but are in attractive shades. Supper was served at 11. Playing a big part in making the prom such a happy affair are the parties before and after the prom.
