SALEM — A four-run fifth inning lifted Mt. Abram to a 6-3 MVC baseball victory over Monmouth Academy on Wednesday afternoon.

Ian Allen and Wyatt Siemenski each had a hit and two RBIs for the Roadrunners (5-2). Trevor Phelps added an RBI and had eight strikeouts on the mound. He allowed three runs on four hits and two walks.

Mt. Abram started the game with a two-run first inning.

Hayden Fletcher had an RBI for Monmouth (6-2). The Mustangs scored a run in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

HALL-DALE 11, TELSTAR 5: Jackson Leach doubled and had two singles to help the Bulldogs (6-2) roll past the Rebels (1-6) in an MVC game in Farmingdale.

Ben Nathan had a double and a triple for the Bulldogs, who trailed 5-0 early in the game.

Telstar had eight hits for the game, including Wyatt Lilly’s double.

OXFORD HILLS 12, MT. BLUE 9: The Vikings (7-1) used an eight-run uprising in the bottom of the sixth inning to overpower the Cougars (4-5) in South Paris.

The Cougars outhit Oxford Hills 13-6, but Mt. Blue’s eight errors didn’t help its cause.

Eli Soehren, who homered, was the only repeat hitter with two hits for Oxford Hills. He also scored five runs and drove in two. First baseman Isaiah Oufiero tripled and drove in a run. Kayden Delano got the win on the mound.

Mt. Blue’s Hayden Dippner and Evan Downing each had three hits, including a triple.

FREEPORT 9, POLAND 0: Kempton Von Glinsky-Gregoire had three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs to lead the Falcons (9-1) past the Knights (4-4) in Freeport.

Freeport opened a 5-0 lead in the second inning and breezed behind a 10-hit offense. Blaine Cockburn pitched the first four innings for the Falcons and gave up one hit with 11 strikeouts.

YARMOUTH 12, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0 (5 INN.): Gibby Sullivan hit two home runs as the Clippers (6-3) handled the Patriots in five innings (3-7) at Gray.

Sam Lowenstein pitched four innings and David Swift relieved in the fifth for Yarmouth, combining on a one-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk.

Sam Bradford and Matt Gautreau had two hits each for the Clippers. Ian Libby singled for Gray-New Gloucester.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 18, BOOTHBAY 15 (11 INN.): Jake New and Zach New had four hits apiece and Tanner Henry played the hero in extra innings as the Falcons (1-8) outlasted the Seahawks (1-8) in an 11-inning affair in Boothbay Harbor.

Henry made a game-saving play on defense to end the bottom of the 10th, then smacked a two-run double in a five-run top of the 11th for Mountain Valley.

Jake New earned the win on the mound for the Falcons after coming on in relief in the ninth inning. Seneca Jones closed out the game in the bottom of the 11th, after earlier taking over for starter Airick Richard in the fourth. Henry relieved Jones in the eighth before it was New’s turn to toe the rubber.

LISBON 3, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 0: Levi Tibbetts struck out 10 Phoenix (5-3) batters in the Greyhounds’ (7-0) win in Jay.

He only allowed two hits and didn’t issue any walks. At the plate, he drove in a Lisbon run.

Hunter Brissette and Mason Booker had a double and a single each. Brissette also drove in a run, along with Jimmy Fitzsimmons.

Griffin Achorn started for Spruce Mountain, nearly going the distance, but Elie Timler came on in relief in the seventh to pick up the final out of the inning.

OAK HILL 13, MADISON 3: Caden Thompson and Landon Bangs each had two RBIs for the Raiders (4-4) in the win over the Bulldogs (5-4) in Madison.

Jackson Arbour and Trent Drouin each had two hits. Ethan Vattaso had a double.

Xavier Estes, Benjamin Thrasher and Jackson Theriault each had an RBI for Madison.

HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL
BUCKFIELD 7, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 2: The Bucks (2-6) took the lead in the bottom of the fifth and pulled away from the Falcons (2-7) in Buckfield.

With the game tied 1-1 after the top of the fifth, Buckfield scored twice in the bottom of the inning and four more times in the bottom of the sixth.

Mountain Valley scored one run in the top of the seventh.

Abigail Prokey had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs for Buckfield. Emma Stevens-Belanger had two singles and two RBIs in the win. McKenna Ridlon had a double and a single while driving in a run. Cora Brewster also had two hits.

Carmen Crockett went the distance in the circle, allowing two runs and eight hits while striking out 11.

Autumn Freeman had a double and a single for the Falcons and Alison Legere had a double. Haley Coulombe drove in a run in the loss.

WINTHROP 10, DIRIGO 1: Lauryn Wood struck out 12 batters and allowed three hits in the circle for the Ramblers (5-4) in the win against the Cougars (3-4) in Winthrop.

Wood also had two hits at the plate. Haley Williams belted two hits and collected four RBIs in the win. Ella Rice had three hits and Lydia Rice had two. Maddie Perkins had a triple.

Winthrop scored five runs in the bottom of the first, and one apiece in the second and fourth. They tacked on three more in the sixth.

Kallie Errington scored Dirigo’s only run in the top of the sixth.

HALL-DALE 9, TELSTAR 3: The Bulldogs plated five runs in the fifth inning to break open a close game and grab the Mountain Valley Conference victory in Farmingdale.

Ashlynn Donahue pitched a complete game to earn the victory while Marie Benoit had three singles. Torie Tibbetts had a pair of singles for Hall-Dale (8-0) as well.

Macie Hallett and Makenzie Eliot each doubled for the Rebels (5-4).

OXFORD HILLS 17, MT. BLUE 0 (5 INN.): Freshman Gigi DeVivo led the Vikings (8-0) with a two-run double in the second and a two-run RBI single in the fourth in the five-inning win over the Cougars (0-9) in Paris.

Oxford Hills scored a run in the first inning, then six in the second, while scoring two in the third and eight in the fourth.

Maddie Cote had a double in for the Cougars.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 16, MT. ABRAM 5: Brooklyn Federico improved to 7-0 in the circle with a complete game and added a double to lead the Mustangs to the MVC victory in Salem.

Rileigh Chase and Zara Falk also doubled for Monmouth (7-0).

Aiyana Savage tripled for Mt. Abram (1-6).

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 10, LISBON 7: The Phoenix (3-5) scored five runs in the fifth inning and held on for a victory over the Greyhounds (2-4) in Livermore Falls.

Spruce Mountain’s Emily Bowie led off the fifth and got hit by a pitch, Jaydn Pingree singled and an infield error loaded the bases. Leah Burgess singled, driving in two runs. A fielder’s choice scored a run and a couple of defensive errors gave the Phoenix another two runs.

Summer Chretien had two hits for the Phoenix.

Lisbon had a seventh inning rally, scoring two runs, but it wasn’t enough. The Greyhounds’ Maria Levesque and Maria Davis each had three singles and Brooke Norman drove in two runs on two singles. Sophie Mallory homered and drove in three runs.

GIRLS LACROSSE
OXFORD HILLS 10, LEWISTON 8: Gracie Hurt scored a game-high three goals and the Vikings outscored the Blue Devils 6-4 in the second half in Lewiston.

Kelsey Bennett netted two goals for Oxford Hills, while Abby Marcotte, Saige Winslow, Mallory Kennison, McKinley Soehren and Elizabeth Hallee also scored. Soehren added two assists.

Four Lewiston players finished with two goals: Julia Perkins, Leah Landry (one assist), Ceci Miller and Lilly Gish. Landry, Mya Grant and Leah Dube each had an assist.
