DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is a shot in the dark, but you’ve been so good at recovering or finding lost items. I misplaced or lent out my 1962 Fort Dix Basic Training yearbook and have been unable to locate it for several years. I am hoping someone out there has it or found it. The name would be Pvt. Gerard Meservier (my service name). I served in the 76th Training Division out of Auburn for six years and would love to locate this treasure. Thank you for all you do for the community. — Nel Meservier, Auburn
ANSWER: We hope someone sees this letter and returns your yearbook soon! It does indeed seem like a treasure.
Dear Sun Spots: I’m working with the Auburn Conservation Commission on the Littlefield Dam off of Littlefield Road and adjacent to the golf course at Martindale Country Club, and we’re having trouble getting to the bottom of its history. We’ve looked into the restoration effort in the 1980s, but can’t quite figure out when and why it was made, and if it was ever completed. Is there someone out there who could help us out? Thank you! — Isaac, No town
ANSWER: If you haven’t tried the Androscoggin Historical Society, here is some contact information: The office is at 2 Turner St., No. 8 (county building), Auburn. Phone number is 207-784-0586 and the email address is info@androhist.org. If anyone reading this has information, please write in and let us know.
