Bra purse
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free bra decorating workshop for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. “Celebrate Survivorship: Give a Bra Purse-a-nality” will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at CMMC, 12 High St., conference room I.
Join the fun and make your own “bra purse” to show individual expression and celebrate the courage and experience of breast cancer survivorship.
Presented by Jean Libby, CMMC volunteer, and Chriss Hayden, Dempsey Center breast health patient navigator.

Sylvan testing
AUBURN — Sylvan will offer free math and reading tests for children in grades 3-8 at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at 243 Mount Auburn Ave. Suite C.
The test will take approximately 90 minutes. This is an opportunity to find out what skills a student needs to work on during the summer.

Line dance
AUBURN — Temple Shalom will offer a beginner/intermediate level line dance class from 10 to 11:15 a.m. beginning Tuesday, June 7. Classes are ongoing and the cost is $4 (paid each visit). The classes will be instructed by Marjorie Perkins of Brunswick. Line dancing is a nonstrenuous dance activity that helps posture, circulation and balance. No partner is needed.
This program is open to the public. To register or more information, call the temple office at 786-4201. Temple Shalom is a nonprofit organization located at 74 Bradman Street in Auburn.
Bridge results
LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on May 31 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Flight A winners were: 1st, Vernon and Janet Arey; 2nd, Kathleen Burden and Mary Anne Trafton; 3rd, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; 4th, Roger Labbe and Larry Fortier; 5th, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; tied at sixth, Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin with Jackie Deschene and Marie Jeanne Lesperance.
Flight B winners were: 1st, Kathleen Burden and Mary Anne Trafton; 2nd, Roger Labbe and Larry Fortier; 3rd, Jackie Deschene and Marie Jeanne Lesperance. Flight C winners were: 1st, Kathleen Burden and Mary Anne Trafton; 2nd, Roger Labbe and Larry Fortier. Another game will be held at 9 a.m., Tuesday, June 7, at the center.
The club also met on June 1 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners were: 1st, Richard Allen and Marta Clements; 2nd, Fred Letourneau and Sherry Hinckley; 3rd, Paul Barber and Luke Merry; 4th, Mary Anne Trafton and Kathleen Burden. Another game will be played at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Schooner Estates.

Blood drive
AUBURN — Central Maine Orthopaedics will partner with the American Red Cross to hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at their office located at 690 Minot Ave.
All presenting donors will receive a coupon for a free case of water courtesy of Walgreens, as well as a coupon for a free day pass to a Maine state park courtesy of L.L. Bean. Additionally, all donors will have the chance to enter to win a Bean’s Acadia Cruiser Bike by Schwinn.

Social Security Claims Representative Lourdes Rubio will offer a general overview of Social Security and Supplemental Security Income disability benefits along with the application process and guidelines.
Rubio has worked with the SSA for 10 years and is fluent in Spanish and English.

Painting workshop
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer “One Stroke Painting,” a free painting workshop for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers, from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, June 8 through July 13, at CMMC, 12 High St., in conference room I.
The class encourages you to tap into your creative self while learning how to load brushes and blend paint to create a beautiful decorative flower. No artistic experience necessary.
Presenter Deb McIntosh is a nine-year survivor of acute promyelocytic leukemia.
