LEWISTON — Birds of the northern boreal forest will be the focus for participants in the Rangeley Lakes bird trip sponsored by the Stanton Bird Club on Saturday, June 25. Several key locations in the Rangeley area will be explored.
The group will car pool from the JC Penney parking lot at the Auburn Mall, leaving at 6 a.m. and returning around 4 p.m.
The birds the group hopes to see include gray jay, boreal chickadee, spruce grouse, white-throated sparrow and black-backed woodpecker. This trip will be lead by professional bird guide, Bob Duchesne, author of The Maine Birding Trail Official Guide.
There will be a $10 per person fee collected the morning of the trip. All experience levels are welcome, and participants are encouraged to pack a lunch. For more information, contact trip leaders Linda Seamans at seamans.linda@yahoo.com, or Tom Hayward at 782-5238.
