Many Mainers feel powerless to affect decisions in Augusta. That used to be me.

However, after getting involved in grassroots efforts in recent years, I learned what a big difference people can make.

For our family, it started when our teenage son volunteered to help Eric Brakey on his first campaign for Maine Senate in 2014. We loved Brakey’s willingness to discuss the issues, his principled understanding of the Constitution, and his mentorship of our son.

Few believed back then that Brakey could beat an entrenched incumbent and make such a big impact in Augusta — for welfare reform, health care freedom and self-defense rights. By empowering citizens to speak up, Brakey proved that regular people can make a difference.

Now, Eric Brakey is running to return to the Maine Senate. This November, I invite everyone in Auburn, Poland, New Gloucester and Durham to join our family in supporting his campaign.
