RUMFORD — Incumbent Jeffrey Sterling and candidate Jolene Lovejoy got the nod from voters on Tuesday to take two open, three-year seats on the Board of Selectmen.
Late Tuesday night, Town Manager Carlo Puiia said Sterling received the most votes at 780, while Lovejoy received 602.
Of the other pair of candidates, Frank DiConzo tallied 514 votes and Eric Giroux received 371.
Selectman Mark Belanger did not seek re-election, opening the door for Lovejoy. Sterling had served out the remainder of former Selectman Robert Cameron’s term.
After the results of the municipal elections were revealed, selectmen convened a housekeeping meeting wherein Selectman Greg Buccina was elected chairman and Sterling re-elected vice chairman by unanimous votes, Puiia said.
The new board will meet for the first time at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 16, in Rumford Falls Auditorium.
