Define what “success” would look like if you are elected to serve your district.
Success is more than passing bills, it is making sure that people feel heard. It is remaining true to your values and having the humility to know that you don’t have all the answers. It is respecting others, especially when there is disagreement. It is letting go of assumptions and preconceived notions. It is valuing people over party.
If I get elected to the Maine House I will be one voice in 151. These sentiments aren’t wishy-washy, they are essential to our democracy and how we get things done in Maine.
We all recognize that we need to make housing, health care, transportation and energy more affordable and accessible for all Mainers. It’s going to be a challenge and the politics will likely be messy, but we are going to make progress because we all know we have to. Our biggest challenges may actually be tied to our strengths.
The truth is, the cat is out of the bag. People are going to keep coming to Maine. They don’t want to just vacation here, they want to put down roots and raise their families here. They want to be Mainers.
In the end, success will be measured in how we welcome the families and businesses that are going to make our economy work while preserving the character that makes our communities so special. Smart investments and policies will help, but it is going to take more than the folks in the capitol — it’s going to take all of us.

Good government requires accountability. Accountability requires transparency. We should make it easy for people to engage with their elected officials, give feedback and get information from their government. We should make it easy for the public to be heard and for those with power to be held accountable.
