BETHEL — Will Doyle found the end zone several times through the air and Gavinn Martin had multiple touchdown runs in Telstar’s 76-0 win over Traip Academy in 8-man Small School South football action Saturday afternoon.
Doyle connected with Cameron Palmer multiple times for touchdowns and also found Wyatt Lilly and Anthony Conant for scoring passes. The Rebels (1-1) led 40-0 after one quarter in what head coach Tim O’Connor called a “bounce-back game” for Telstar after a lopsided season-opening loss to Mountain Valley.
O’Connor noted that the Rangers (0-2) were plagued by multiple turnovers and Telstar’s kicks were able to pin Traip back deep in its own territory.
FIELD HOCKEY
LEAVITT 8, LINCOLN ACADEMY 0: Cierra Barker, Katie Sirois and Maddie Morin each scored twice as the Hornets (3-0) defeated the Eagles (0-2-1) in Newcastle.
Barker and Morin also had an assist. Jazzlynn Clark chipped in with a goal and an assist, Gwen Scherrer also scored. Leavitt goalie Liz Chabot stopped two shots.
Hunter Gilmore made eight saves for Lincoln.
LISBON 2, OAK HILL 0: Two second half goals propelled the Greyhounds (3-1) past the Raiders (1-4) in a Route 9 rivalry game in Wales.
Laura Mockler scored in the third quarter with Maddy Tuplin setting the goal up. Kayla Cooper scored in the fourth quarter with Reesa Theriault-Guay notching the helper. Maria Levesque made five saves for the shutout.
Sierra Lane kept Oak Hill in the game making 18 saves in the losing effort.
OXFORD HILLS 3, CAMDEN HILLS 2: Sierra Carson scored a pair of goals, Paige Temple added one and Tristen Derenburger tallied a pair of assists in the undefeated Vikings’ (3-0) narrow win over the Windjammers (0-2) in Rockport.
Carson scored off a rebound off Camden Hills goalie Tess Hodgkins’ pads in the first quarter. The Windjammers’ Addie Kelly scored a goal in the third and fourth quarters off corner plays.
The Vikings got two goals in the fourth quarter. Temple scored, followed by Carson’s second goal, which was the game-winner with less than five minutes left in the game. Derenburger earned an assist on each goal. Gabby Wright made two saves to earn the win in net for the Vikings.
MESSALONSKEE 3, MT. BLUE 2: Isabel Culver scored on a penalty corner with 1:42 remaining in the game to give the Eagles a KVAC win over the Cougars in Oakland.
Freshmen Zoey Gilbert and Alexa Caccamo also scored for Messalonskee (3-0) while Nealey Dillon made four saves. Gilbert also had an assist.
Sophomores Summer Sawyer and Abriana Griffin scored for the Cougars (1-3).
ST. DOMINIC 1, POLAND 0, OT: Abigail Mitchell ended a scoreless stalemate with a goal in overtime to lift the Saints (4-0) past the Knights (0-2) in Poland.
Mitchell scored the game’s only goal 3 minutes, 49 seconds into the extra period. The game-winner was set up by Ava Apodaca
Led by Breah Beaucage, Sydney Lacombe and Abby Bsullak, the Knights controlled the offense for much of the game, according to Poland coach Ashley Armstrong. However, St. Dominic goalie Maia Cote stopped all five of the Knights’ shots.
BOYS SOCCER
EDWARD LITTLE 3, BRUNSWICK 2: Mohamed Adow notched a hat trick as the Red Eddies (3-0) edged the Dragons (2-1) in Auburn.
Caleb Albert, Abdihakim Daud and Ethan Boucher each recorded assists for Edward Little. Eli St. Laurent made three saves in goal for the Eddies.
Luke Patterson scored for Dragons and Jack Banks provided an assist. Brady LaForge stopped five shots in net.
LEWISTON 13, MESSALONSKEE 0: Jacinto Mavinga and Aristarque Meli each turned a hat trick in the Blue Devils’ (2-1) overwhelming victory over the Eagles (1-1-1) in Oakland.
Shafi Ibrahim scored two more goals and teammates Hamze Nur, Obed Antonio, Kudra Heri, Yusef Dakane and Ahmed Abow each scored a goal for Lewiston. The Blue Devils racked up eight assists, including ones from David Abdi, Mustafa Abdi and Emilson Zocolo.
The Blue Devils outshot the Eagles, 18-2.
