Area roundup: Lisbon shakes off Carrabec in boys soccer

Nick Powell's goal gives the Greyhounds a 1-0 victory; Mt. Blue wins in overtime; and more soccer and field hockey action from Thursday.

LISBON— Nick Powell’s goal off a direct kick from 20 yards out lifted Lisbon to a 1-0 victory over Carrabec in boys soccer on Thursday.

Levi Tibbetts made 10 saves on goal for Lisbon (7-0-1), which outshot Carrabec (2-5) 18-10.

MT. BLUE 2, SKOWHEGAN 1, OT: Levi Bogar scored in overtime to lift the Cougars (4-4-1) past the River Hawks (0-7-1) in Farmington.

Thomas Cormier also scored for Mt. Blue. Sam Steeves scored the lone goal for Skowhegan.

MT. ABRAM 13, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN/DIRIGO 0: Sam Cockerham and Killian Pillsbury each collected hat tricks as the Roadrunners (7-1) beat the Phoenix  (2-7) in Salem Township.

Jose Torres scored twice for Mt. Abram, while Morgan Thibodeau, Kaden Pillsbury, Tre’ Pease, Tucker Plouffe and Ash Rollins also found the back of the net. Kaden Pillsbury had three assists, and Thibideau and Harrison Thomas had two apiece.

Logan Knight made 14 saves in net for Spruce Mountain/Dirigo. Trey Reed and Logan Dube made one apiece for Mt. Abram.

ERSKINE 5, LEAVITT 2: Holden McKenney scored a pair of goals to lead the Eagles (4-1) to a win over the Hornets (1-7) in Turner.

Erskine hopped out to a 3-0 lead by halftime. Sam Boynton, Noah Crummett and Jaxson Roderick each scored a goal, while Crummett also collected an assist.

Logan Berube scored both of Leavitt’s goals, with Brayden Greenlaw picking up two assists.

FRYEBURG 8, ST. DOM’S 0: Matteo Sbuell scored three goals and Rafi Ajimura added two goals and three assists as the Raiders (5-2) defeated the Saints (2-5-1) in Auburn.

Modesto Rodriguez also netted two goals and Jacob Eveleth had one for Fryeburg.

Riley Daigle made six saves for St. Dom’s.

WELLS 3, POLAND 2: Santiago Fitch-Curry had two goals and Cam DaRosa also scored for the visiting Warriors (2-8) against the Knights (2-7) in Poland.

Drew Saylor and Talen Langevine scored for Poland.

FIELD HOCKEY
OXFORD HILLS 2, LEWISTON 0: Carlee-Mae Cash scored both goals as the Vikings (7-2-1) downed the Blue Devils (1-8) in Paris.

Gabby Wright made two saves for Oxford Hills to secure the shutout, while Kim McLaughlin stopped 10 of 12 shots for Lewiston.

BREWER 2, EDWARD LITTLE 1, OT: Jordan Williams scored on a stroke in overtime to steer Witches (5-5) past the Red Eddies (3-7-1) in Brewer.

Edward Little scored first when Leah Thibodeau’s shot found the back of the net in the first quarter. Brewer tied the game with a goal from Allie Flag.

The game remained tied for the next three quarters before Williams’ goal settled the matter.

Kasey Smith made 12 saves and Kylee Lebrun made one for the Red Eddies. Witches goalie Abby Look stopped nine shots.

GIRLS SOCCER
LEAVITT 3, ERSKINE 2: Ali Denning scored the game-winning goal with 4:34 left in the game, allowing the Hornets (5-3) to sidestep the Eagles (1-7) in South China.

In the first half, Shannon McDonough’s goal opened the scoring for Erskine, but Leavitt’s Kylee Spugnardi, with assistance from Julia Bickford, scored to tie the game.

The Eagles’ Gabby Sasse scored first in the second, but once again Leavitt tied the game at 2-2 on Madi Dutil’s unassisted goal.

Hornets goalie Kira Welch made five saves, and Sophia Pilotte stopped 10 shots for Erskine.
