LEWISTON — Central Maine Accountable Care Organization has been named to the Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare Physician Group Honor Roll.
The organization Central Maine Healthcare providers and facilities and a number of external physician groups.
The honor roll highlights physician groups that have achieved exceptional results in their approach to disease prevention and the treatment of acute and chronic illness for adult and pediatric patients.
Central Maine Accountable Care Organization is among only four groups in Maine and 58 groups nationwide to receive the distinction.
Harvard Pilgrim selected the honor roll physician groups based on 2021 clinical performance measured against national standards set by Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set, a tool developed for the National Committee for Quality Assurance to assess the clinical performance of doctors and other medical professionals.
In its evaluation of physician groups, Harvard Pilgrim reviewed performance in three domains of clinical care affecting adult and pediatric patients: acute, chronic and preventive care. Physician groups were identified as honor roll practices based on points earned for performance on 15 measures such as appropriate treatment for children with upper respiratory infection, comprehensive diabetes care and breast cancer screenings.
“It is great to see our hardworking Accountable Care Organization providers and care teams get the recognition they deserve,” said Dr. John Alexander, president of Central Maine Accountable Care Organization.
