MEXICO — Region 9 Adult & Community Education is scheduled to host a community conversation, titled “Solution Ideas to Close The Digital Divide,” at 5 p.m. Monday, April 10, at its School of Applied Technology building, 377 River Road.
Those who attend are asked to enter through the right side entrance of the building, according to a news release from Lauren Haines, Region 9 workforce training coordinator.
The event is held in partnership with other Community Concepts Corporation and The Maine Connectivity Authority. Mia Purcell of Community Concepts will be the host.
The conversation aims to help strengthen the report being sent to the federal government to obtain grant funds to support Oxford County in meeting the community needs for affordable and accessible internet and devices. The affordable Connectivity Program is a Federal Communications Commission program that helps connect families and households struggling to afford internet service.
Organizers want to collect stories and give people opportunities to get engaged and motivated, complete surveys, share information about the Affordable Connectivity Program and other digital resources, and gather ideas and solutions for digital inclusion barriers and challenges.
Snacks and refreshments will be served from 5-5:30 p.m., followed by the discussion.
Participants will receive a $25 Hannaford gift card; one per household.
