What to expect: New coach Tyler Haskell said the Red Eddies have been working hard in the offseason and in the preseason. The hope this season is to begin building the program. Leading the way will be several key returners, such as Austin Sellinger, Daulton David, Milo Small and Andrew Clements.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER/POLAND 26ERS

Key losses: Jake Butler (WMC first team), Owen McDuffie (WMC and Sun Journal All-Region second team).
Promising newcomers: Juniors — Gracen Golebiewski (D), Ben Powell (M), Noah Schaffer (A), Zach Fecteau (M), Andrew Nadeau (D); Sophomores — Sawyer Nelson (M), Ashten Golebiewski (A).
What to expect: Tyler DeMoore-Gonzalez said he has been implementing new strategies and focusing on player development in order to prepare for the tough competition Gray-NG/Poland will face this season. The 26ers expect to be a high-energy and competitive team. Overall, they are poised for a successful season.

LEWISTON BLUE DEVILS

Promising newcomers: Senior — Isaac Shannon (D); Sophomore — Lucas Bragdon (M); Freshmen — Quinn Murray (G), Joe D’Andrea (M), Jayden Sands (M).
What to expect: The Blue Devils are a young, energetic team, according to coach Ben Fournier, with a lot of players stepping into bigger roles this season. There are a handful of seasoned veterans who Fournier said are more than capable of guiding this team to a successful campaign after they reached the A North semifinals in 2022.

MARANACOOK/WINTHROP/SPRUCE MOUNTAIN HAWKS
Coach: Jake Linkletter (second year)
Class: C; Conference: KVAC
Last year’s results: 10-4, reached state quarterfinals.
Returning athletes: Seniors — Chase McLaughlin (M), Aidan Guimond (M/A); Juniors — Bennet Ross (M), Owen Lyons (A), Zach Chapman (D), Max Cheng (M), Lucas Woodruff (G); Sophomores — Parker Douin (LSM), Chase Knight (A), Cobey Dunn (M), Adam Ellis (D), Mitch Maceda (M).
Promising newcomers: Seniors — Wyatt Curtis (M), Claude Futrelle (M); Junior — Owen Dunn (M); Freshman — Ryan Bourque (D/M).
What to expect: Second-year coach Jake Linkletter said practices have been full of positive energy and selfless behavior. With two returning seniors, the Hawks are a young team, but one that is improving every day. Linkletter said that there is a great desire “on this team to maintain our program’s standard of lacrosse,” which includes five straight playoff appearances and a state final appearance in 2019.

MT. BLUE COUGARS
Coach: Matt Reynolds (fourth year)
Class: B; Conference: KVAC
Last year’s results: 4-9, lost in the first round.
Returning athletes: Seniors — Dustyn Hinkley (M), Dylan Farmer (D), Aaron Whitley (M); Juniors — Chase Ranger (M), Levi Bogar (LSM), Finley Ward (D), Mason Willett (M), Cole McCourt (D), Noah Prescott (M); Sophomores — Eli Bartlett (A), Brody Farmer (G), Bode Markham (M), Trey Bailey (A).
Promising newcomers: Freshmen — Julian Reynolds (M), Cam Ranger (M), Levi Austin (LSM), Trent Harris (D).
What to expect: According to coach Matt Reynolds, the Cougars have worked hard during the offseason. Leading the group are Chase Ranger and Levi Bogar. The Cougars hope they can improve on last year’s record, which included five losses in overtime.

OAK HILL/LISBON/MONMOUTH/ST. DOM’S RAIDERS

Key losses: Sean Moore (Sun Journal first team), Tiger Hopkins (Sun Journal Player of the Year), Travis Caron (Sun Journal first team), DeAndre Daniels (Sun Journal first team).
Promising newcomers: Seniors — Richard McKenzie (M), Canaan Cameron (D), Hayden Mitchell (D); Junior — Dylan Spier (A); Sophomores — Luke Davidson (D), Brady Boone (M/A); Freshman — Conner St. George (M).
What to expect:  Coach Joe Hinkley is looking for the Raiders to continue their playoff success of the previous two seasons, which included reaching the Class C state championship game in 2021 and the state semifinals in 2022. The Raiders, who add St. Dom’s to the co-op this season, have some big holes to fill this year from those teams, particularly two-time Sun Journal Player of the Year Tiger Hopkins, but Hinkley is working the younger players each day during the preseason to get the experience they need.

OXFORD HILLS VIKINGS

Promising newcomers: Sophomores — Connor Doyle, Elliot Porter, Shaun Kyllonen, Xander Biehl; Freshmen — Christopher Levesque, Conner Richard, Cooper Carman, Curtis Fogg, Garrett Wooster, Hunter Campbell, Jeremy Turner, Malaki Sparks, Quincy Edsun.
What to expect: Hunter Rowell likes the depth the Vikings have in each class as the program continues to grow. The quarterfinal loss to Bangor drove Oxford Hills to put in extra work in the offseason. Rowell said they want to be a tough team to play against this season and to make another playoff run. Derrick Brooks led the team in goals, with 29, in 2022 and will be one of the key offensive players again this season.
