AUBURN — A local man died Thursday afternoon shortly after he was struck by an SUV while pushing his bicycle across Minot Avenue.
Police said the 20-year-0ld Auburn man died of his injuries shortly after he was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He was not being identified Thursday night as police sought to notify family members.
The crash occurred about 3:12 p.m. in the area of Western and Minot avenues. Police said the man had been pushing his bike while trying to cross Minot Avenue when he was struck by a Ford Explorer that was being driven west on Minot Avenue.
Police did not identify the driver of the Ford.
When emergency crews arrived, the bicyclist was down on the ground and reported to be unresponsive.
The crash remained under investigation Thursday night.
