Garden Club
NEW SHARON — Mt. Blue Area Garden Club members will meet at Shirley Rau and Judy Ellis’s homes at 345/327 Swan Road on Aug. 16 at 5:30 p.m. for a garden tour and a regular meeting conducted by Amy Palmer, president of MBAGC. Shirley and Judy’s flower gardens are located in a country setting, both of them having an extensive selection of hosta and hundreds of varieties of daylilies; some are in raised beds.
Members are asked to bring a lawn chair, a bag lunch and a plant to swap with other members. Hostesses Judy Fuller, Vicki Webster and Mary Sennatt will provide desserts and beverages. Interested gardeners are invited to attend. For more information, call 645-4383.
Student shows
PHILLIPS — The Phillips eighth-graders will host two nights of entertainment at the Phillips Middle School, 1401 Rangeley Road.
A talent show will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16. Anyone with talent is encouraged to arrive early and sign up. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 students, free for kids under 5.
A fashion revue will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18. Admission: adults $3, students $2, kids under 5 free.
Both events benefit the end of the year Hoorah Trip to Quebec. Light refreshments, 50/50 raffle and picnic table raffle will be available.
Jordan benefit
LIVERMORE FALLS — A benefit supper will be held for Brian Jordan at the Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church fellowship hall, on the corner of Church and Knapp streets, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17. Jordan was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia this March. Super summer salads of many kinds, cold cuts and delicious pies will be served. The cost of admission is $7 for adults and $3 for children. For more information, call 897-5791.

RANGELEY — The next Community Breakfast with everyone invited to attend will be from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Farm House Inn.

Everything Sale
PHILLIPS — The fourth annual Everything Sale at the Phillips Area Community Center on Depot Street will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19.
There will be something for everyone, from antiques and collectibles to photographs and handicrafts of all types.
Table space may be rented for $5 per table. The Center, a.k.a. The Old Gym, is in the middle of all the Old Home Days events. Call Caroline King at 639-2070 or Paula Kane at 639-3213 for further details. Proceeds from table rentals benefit the work to maintain the facility and bring various programs to the public.
Refreshments, including homemade goodies, steamed hot dogs, soda and coffee, will be also be on sale.
Those interested in offering further support may become “Leaders of the PACC” for a $5 donation. Leaders are entitled to a discount on many of the center’s events. Raffle tickets for the six-foot picnic table, made and donated by Paul Gardiner, may also be purchased at the sale. The winner will be drawn following the Children’s Parade on Sunday, Aug. 21.
