Lewiston-Auburn Senior College in the Community’s next presentation is set for 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11, in the Androscoggin Room at Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St.

Judy Hierstein, a local artist and art teacher, will present “The Things We Do for Beauty.”

Her past has always included art-related occupations. Now that she is retired, she uses her senior college offerings to revisit past passions and explore new ones, according to a news release from Diane Clay of the Senior College Board.

Through make-up, tattoos, neck rings and scarification, humans have long used their bodies as a canvas.

Hierstein will take a light-hearted look at how people have modified their bodies for the sake of beauty.

This collaboration is with the Auburn library. For more information, call 207-333-6640.
