The Lewiston Public Library is a space of multitudes.

The library’s books and educators provide a place of learning for youth and adults, private rooms often serve as offices for job meetings, the library’s roof and walls hold a space of warmth for those in our community who may not have a roof to return to after closing time … the list goes on.

I take immense pleasure and learn so much about what it means to breathe and grow with the Lewiston community through my days spent in the library.

I felt deep sadness and frustration upon hearing about the potential cut back in hours and funding. I will be at the City Council meeting this Tuesday night, and I hope that the council’s hearts side with the best interest of the community.

My thanks to everyone who has made, and continues to make, the library such an incredible part of Lewiston.
