POLAND — Poland scored five runs in the last two innings to shake off Greely with a 9-8 victory in a WMC softball game Saturday.
Khloe O’Leary notched two singles and an RBI for Poland (4-1). Kayleigh Hood and Nicole Rioux each added a double and an RBI.
Sophie Smith got two hits for Greely (1-5).
DIRIGO 5, TELSTAR 3: Grace Robbins ad Lana Waite each doubled twice as the Cougars (2-1) downed the Rebels (0-3) in Dixfield.
Each team had six hits, but Dirigo’s three-run fourth inning helped its cause. Winning pitcher Grace Robbins went the distance, giving up two walks but striking out eight batters.
Telstar pitcher Maylyn Hastings was tagged with the loss. She gave up five walks and struck out seven. Karen Marshall and Morgan Zetts doubled for the Rebels and Marshall also tripled.
GARDINER 4, EDWARD LITTLE 0: Winning pitcher Brooke Gero gave up four hits and struck out six batters, leading the undefeated Tigers (5-0) to a shutout against the Red Eddies (1-2) in Gardiner.
Lainey Cooley came across with the only run needed in the bottom of the second for the Gardiner. Corinne Vasvary had two hits and scored a run.
Emily Horton had three hits for the Red Eddies.
WINTHROP 16, CARRABEC 1: Haley Williams hammered out three hits, stole two bases and scored four runs in the Ramblers’ overwhelming win against the Cobras in Winthrop.
Lauryn Wood went four innings and struck out eight batters to collect the win. Wood also had two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Julia Leterneau had two hits and Ella Rice scored three runs and stole three bases.
MONMOUTH 3, OAK HILL 1: Bella Lyons doubled and Rileigh Chase added two singles to lead the Mustangs to the win in Wales.
Brooklyn Federico earned the win in the circle for Monmouth (2-0). She allowed three hits while striking out seven.
LEAVITT SWEEPS LINCOLN ACADEMY: The Hornets rolled to 8-0 and 7-2 victories over the Eagles in a doubleheader in Turner.
Winning pitcher Abby Albert pitched five innings before Hailey Cyr came on in relief in the sixth and seventh innings in the first game to complete a perfect game. The two pitchers and Leavitt’s defense never allowed a batter on base for Lincoln in Game 1. The two pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts, with Albert tallying seven.
Maddy Dutil and Logan Arsenault each had two singles in Leavitt’s eight-hit attack.
In Game 2, Hailey Turcotte got the win after pitching five innings before Sam DeBlois came on in relief in the sixth. DeBlois singled twice and Kylee Spugnardi doubled and singled.
Kayla Rogers doubled for the Eagles.
MONMOUTH ACADEMY 16, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 6: The Mustangs (3-0) scored three runs in each of the first three innings to jumpstart their victory over the Falcons (0-5) in Monmouth.
Rileigh Chase had two doubles and a single to pace Monmouth’s offense. Maddie Herr and Bella Lyons also had three hits each, while Brooklyn Federico, Shanna Parsons and Grace Levesque contributed two apiece.
Federico earned the victory after taking over in the circle in the fourth inning.
Laycee Boucher and Mallorie Bourret each tripled and Madisyn McLean doubled for Mountain Valley.
OXFORD HILLS 7, HAMPDEN ACADEMY 5: The Vikings (3-0) scored twice in the eighth inning to earn a hard-fought road win over the Broncos (1-3) in Hampden.
Miah Gallon drove in the go-ahead run with a double, and Gigi DeVivo brought in another run with a sacrifice fly.
Freshman Kyeria Morse, who pitched the final five innings for the Vikings, then held off the Broncos in the bottom of the eight to earn the win. She struck out eight and walked one.
Gallon also had a triple and a single for Oxford Hills. She and Charlotte McGreevy finished with a game-high three hits. DeVivo contributed two singles.
Maih Coon and Emma Chute each had two hits for Hampden.
BASEBALL
WINTHROP 14, CARRABEC 4: The Ramblers’ (3-2) five-run sixth inning put them over the top against the Cobras in Winthrop.
Singles by Carter Rivers and Will Grant, along with doubles by Jaxon August and Brayden Stubbert, led Winthrop in that sixth-inning eruption. Stubbert led the Ramblers with three hits in four at-bats. The Ramblers turned in a 15-hit performance.
Winning pitcher Andrew Fay allowed six hits four runs and struck out five batters in 3 2/3 innings.
Carrabec’s (0-1) big third inning resulted in three runs, thanks to singles from Connor Peabody and Logan Caldwell.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 3, HALL-DALE 2: Garrett Hunt hit a game-tying home run in the fourth and the Phoenix (3-0) scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth as they edged the Bulldogs (0-3) in Livermore Falls.
Nate Holland and Kolby Cotton combined to quiet the Hall-Dale lineup. Holland allowed four hits and one run in three innings, with two strikeouts, and Cotton scattered three hits and the other run while striking out three in four innings.
Cody Dupont pitched all six innings for the Bulldogs, giving up seven hits. Trevor Kalloch hit a double for Hall-Dale, which scored its runs in the first and sixth innings.
EDWARD LITTLE 8, GARDINER 1: TJ Kramarz and Brady Vincent each hammered out three hits in the Red Eddies’ (2-3) lopsided win over the Tigers (1-3) in Gardiner.
Drew Smith had two hits and drove in four runs for Edward Little. Teammate Eli St. Laurent also had two hits. Campbell Cassidy drove in a pair of runs.
For Gardiner, Zach Reed doubled.
DIRIGO 11, TELSTAR 1: Trenton Hutchinson drove in five runs with three hits, including a double and triple, to steer the Cougars (1-0) to a victory over the Rebels (0-3) in Dixfield.
Dirigo jumped ahead when Charlie Houghton singled and Austin Adams doubled in the first inning.
The Cougars erupted with seven runs in the fourth inning, with Travis Wright, Hutchinson, Dakota Tompkins and Adams supplying RBIs. Adams also got the win on the mound.
BOYS LACROSSE
MARSHWOOD 14, OXFORD HILLS 0: Tommy Demeroto paced the Hawks (3-1) with four goals and three assists as they rolled past the Vikings (1-3) in Paris.
Kevin Couglar recorded two goals and five assists, and Chase Turcotte and Milo Closson also scored twice.
DEERING 15, WINTHROP/MARANACOOK/SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 8: Andrew Burke totaled six goals and five assists, powering the Rams (3-0) past Winthrop/Maranacook/Spruce Mountain in Winthrop.
Joey Foley contributed four goals, Corbin Burke added two, and Trip Martson had a goal and three assists. Vinny Cavallaro made 10 saves for the Rams.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER/POLAND 13, MASSABESIC 2: Will Gwinn finished with four goals and two assists, and Miles Post also scored four times as the 26ers (3-2) cruised past the Mustangs (1-4) in Gray.
Caden Ouellette added a goal and three assists. GNG/Poland goalie Kyle Plummer made 27 saves.
Kaden Manning scored twice from Charlie Carroll for Massabesic.
GIRLS LACROSSE
MT. BLUE 11, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 7: Chloe Roberts tallied six goals and three assists to pace the unbeaten Cougars past the Raiders (0-4) in Farmington.
Alissa Butterfield added three goals and an assist for Mt. Blue, while Talia Kidder and Emma Dunn each scored one. Lily Huntley, Bree Griffin and Rachel Maxim each had an assist. Goalie Maddie Keller made 11 saves.
Phoebe Sartory, Mia Astauskas and Grace Audetter scored two goals apiece for Fryeburg, and Eleonora Mela had one.
