POLAND — Poland rallied with three runs in the sixth inning to edge Freeport with 4-3 victory in a baseball game Wednesday.
Sam Paladino ignited the three-run rally with a two-run triple. Gene Grant added three hits for the Knights (4-5).
Winning pitcher Adam Gwarjanski struck out nine batters, and Regan Cohen got the final two outs for a save.
Aaron Converse pitched a complete game for Freeport (5-5).
LISBON 10, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 0: Levi Tibbetts was a triple away from the cycle in the Greyhounds (3-3) victory over the Phoenix (4-4).
Tibbetts also had three RBIs. Jimmy Fitzsimmons threw a a five-inning no-hitter and struck out eight. He also contributed three hits, including a triple, and an RBI. Aiden Parker drove in two runs.
Elie Timler went 4 and 1/3 innings for Spruce Mountain and only gave up four earned runs. He allowed 10 hits and struck out four.
OXFORD HILLS 13, MT. BLUE 1: Connor Fitts hit a triple and a double while driving home four as the Vikings (5-2) avenged their loss last week by beating the Cougars (5-3) in Farmington.
Hunter Tardiff had a triple and two singles and drove in two. Kolby Brown had two RBIs, and leadoff hitter Brady Truman had four hits and an RBI.
Brown went five innings, giving up a run and two hits and fanning one batter.
Brody Walsh went 4 and 1/3 innings giving up seven runs and striking out one. He also had an RBI at the plate.
YARMOUTH 9, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Liam Hickey racked up nine strikeouts as the Clippers (4-2) beat the Patriots (1-8) in Yarmouth.
Jack Janczuk led Yarmouth at the plate with three RBI. Sam Lowenstein had a double and a single, and Johnny Cody and Matt Gautreau each contributed two singles.
LEAVITT 13, LEWISTON 12: Noah Carpenter launched a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning to help Leavitt (6-2) shake off off Lewiston (0-8) in Turner.
Carpenter also hit a solo home run in the seventh to send the game into to extra innings. Will Keach collected six RBIs for the Hornets.
Mike Caron and Ethan Blue had multiple hits for the Devils.
ST. DOMINIC 6, MCI 0: The Saints (7-2) jumped out to an early lead and blanked the Huskies (1-6) in Auburn.
Pitcher Tim Ouellette earned the win for St. Dom’s and paced the offense by going 3 for 4 at the plate.
SOFTBALL
YARMOUTH 13, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 2: The Clippers (2-4) erased an early 2-0 deficit with five runs in the bottom of the first, highlighted by a two-run double by Julia Brown and an RBI triple from Cat Rich, as they downed the Patriots (1-8) in five innings at Yarmouth.
Leah Muentener and Emma Butch each had added a single and a double. Lucia Jordan allowed two earned runs on five hits while striking out eight.
Maisie Lerette hit a two-run homer for Gray-New Gloucester.
POLAND 21, FREEPORT 2: Khloe O’Leary had four singles and drove in three runs, and the Knights (8-1) used a 13-run second inning to pull away from Freeport (2-8) in a five-inning game at Poland.
Alyssa Hart drove in four runs with a double and single, and Olivia Rioux had two singles, a double and an RBI.
Morah Albertini had two singles and an RBI for the Falcons.
MCI 17, ST. DOMINIC 11: Skyla Dean was 3 for 5 with two runs scored as the Huskies (4-3) earned a wild win in Auburn.
MCI scored all its runs in the first four innings, highlighted by a seven-run fourth.
Jyllian Riendeau had two hits, three runs and three RBIs for MCI, while Kassie Snowman had two hits and two RBIs and Abigail McCarron two hits.
Madeline Andrews had three hits and two RBIs for St. Dominic (4-4), and teammate Sophia Franciose had two hits and three RBIs.
MONMOUTH 18, MT. ABRAM 0: Brooklyn Federico threw a one-hitter as the Mustangs (7-0) remained undefeated with the five-inning win at Monmouth.
Zara Salk had two hits and three RBIs for Monmouth, while Maddie Herr also had two hits.
Kate Holt had a double for Mt. Abram (2-5).
LEAVITT 12, LEWISTON 8: Maddy Dutil had three hits, including a double, as the Hornets (7-1) defeated the Blue Devils (1-6) in a high-scoring affair in Turner.
Hailey Turcotte also had three hits for Leavitt. Lily Chabot doubled and drove home four runs and Sam Deblois also doubled.
Starting pitcher Abby Albert struck out eight and reliever Hailey Cyr had six for the Hornets.
Aubrey Peer tallied four hits, one a double, for Lewiston. Elissa Nadeau doubled and had two singles, while Juliet Philippon doubled and singled.
HALL-DALE 12, TELSTAR 0: Ashlynn Donohue threw a one-hitter, and the Bulldogs (7-0) pounded 11 hits in the five-inning win at Bethel.
Jade Graham, Zoe Soule and Torie Tibbetts homered for Hall-Dale, while Donohue and Marie Benoit added two hits apiece.
Peyton Berry doubled for Telstar (1-4).
BUCKFIELD 16, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 3: A three-run homer hit over the fence by Carmen Crockett highlighted a 10-run fourth in the Bucks’ (7-1) five-inning victory over the Falcons (1-8) in Rumford.
Emma Stevens-Belanger joined Crockett in driving three runs for Buckfield, while Addison Stevens-Belanger, Lillian Sharples and Amelia Hill added two RBIs apiece. Emma Stevens-Belanger tripled, and Addison Stevens-Belanger, Chloee Bennett, Abigail Prokey and Sharples each doubled.
Sharples pitched the first 2 1/3 innings and struck out three. Crockett relieved Sharples and fanned five in 2 2/3 innings.
Mallorie Bourret had twohits for Mountain Valley, including one of the Falcons’ three doubles. Brooke Bennett and Madisyn McLean also doubled.
OAK HILL 5, MADISON 4: Kelsey Young allowed only one earned run in the circle as the Raiders (4-4) defeated the Bulldogs in Wales.
Young allowed seven hits and struck out eight. She also had two RBIs at the plate. Saryn Blais doubled and recorded an RBI, while Izzy Whitaker also drove in a run.
Hope Nadeau and Reagan Cowan had two hits each for Madison (6-3). Kylie Furbush took the loss, allowing five runs on four hits while striking out three.
WINTHROP 14, DIRIGO 0: Lauryn Wood threw a five-inning no-hitter for the Ramblers (3-3) in their win over the Cougars (3-3) in Dixfield.
Wood had eight strikeouts and no walks. Winthrop’s defense committed one error.
Brynn Stubbert and Annabell Blais each had a double and a single to lead the Ramblers’ offense, while Ella Rice tripled.
Dirigo’s Lana Waite struck out eight and allowed 10 hits.
GIRLS LACROSSE
OXFORD HILLS 19, LEWISTON 6: Mallory Kennison led the Vikings’ (5-4) prolific attack in a victory over the Blue Devils (1-7) in Paris.
Kennison racked up five goals and two assists. Gracie Hart added four goals, Allison Slicer had three goals and an assist, McKinley Soehren tallied two goals and three assists, Bella Pelletier finished with two goals and two assists, Saige Winslow contributed two goals and an assist, and Kelsey Bennet scored one goal.
Oxford Hills goalie Delaney Stone made six stops.
Julia Perkins and Gabby Roy led Lewiston with two goals apiece, while Madeline Cote and Crew Langley each netted one. Goalie Fiona Landry had five saves.
BOYS LACROSSE
OXFORD HILLS 7, EDWARD LITTLE 6: Derek Brooks had a hat trick and an assist, and the Vikings (2-5) held off the Red Eddies (2-4) in Auburn.
Owen Marr scored a pair of goals, while Connor Richard and Jack Bessette each scored one and had an assist for Oxford Hills. Goalie Troy Edmunds made three saves.
Trailing 6-2 after three quarters, Edward Little outscored Oxford Hills 4-1 in the final quarter. Andrew Clements had two goals and an assist for the Red Eddies, while Austin Sellinger and Jack Thompson added a goal and an assist each. Garret Hedges and Milo Small also scored, and goalie Cam Dufour made 10 saves.
