LEWISTON — The L&A Veterans Council will host its annual Memorial Day ceremony Saturday morning at Veterans Memorial Park on Main Street.

The ceremony to honor U.S. military personnel who have died while serving in the armed forces begins at 10 a.m.

To entertain early attendees, an all-volunteer brass band will begin playing at 9:30 a.m.

Following speeches by local dignitaries and a wreath-laying ceremony, a formal dedication ceremony will be held for the 1960s-era M60A3 tank, the latest addition to the park.

According to L&A Veterans Council Chairman Jerry DeWitt, a time capsule will be added. All veterans’ organization are invited to add something to the capsule, Dewitt said.

People are asked to bring their own chairs.
