LEWISTON — Elizabeth Eames, Ward 3 representative to the Lewiston School Committee, announces her bid for a second term in November.
Eames said “as a recently-retired educator with one committee term under my belt, I have the time, the knowledge, and the experience to work toward increased equity in Lewiston schools.”
In her first term she said she conquered the steep learning curve of a surprisingly complex and time-consuming job and feels more fully equipped to ensure fair treatment and full access for all.
In particular, Eames pledged to continue her work to multiply pathways to graduation. While becoming instrumental in founding the relatively new Pathways Project, throughout her first term she served on the curriculum and policy subcommittees. Early this year she was named chairperson of the policy subcommittee. She was also elected the 2023 Legislative Liaison to Augusta.
If reelected, Eames said she hopes to retain these responsibilities and maybe take on something new, too.
Eames said the School Committee forged a good working relationship with the Lewiston Public Schools’ administrative team and with each other. She said she hopes the next committee will be equally able to collaborate professionally, acting “like grown-ups” even in challenging times.
She invited people to reach out with their comments and concerns so she can assist them.
