FARMINGTON — The Farmington-based a cappella ensemble Northfield has added several new singers who can be heard in an early September concert series titled Partly Claudio.
The program features several works by Claudio Monteverdi and rousing early American shape note tunes, plus a variety of French, English and Italian songs of love and fun.
Northfield’s repertoire includes “Ecco Mormorar L’onde” and “Cor Mio,” two dramatic Italian pieces. The group will also perform psalm settings ranging from the Renaissance to the 20th century
Newest members, Laurie Hatch of Wilton, Sam Sytsma of Farmington, Sue Downes-Borko of Rangeley and Joshua Grams of Vienna, will join longtime members Daniel Woodward, Mark Paddock, Jim Crowley, Mardie Porter, Melanie Pullo, Jennie Caeti and Margaret Cox for three upcoming performances.
Concerts will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7., at the opening of the new Emery Arts Center on the University of Maine campus in Farmington; and at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rangeley (donation). Also, at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Union Church of Belgrade Lakes in Belgrade Lakes village on Route 27 (donation).
