Eric Stephen Penney

ILLINOIS – Eric Stephen Penney, 48, of Geneva, Ill., and formerly of South Paris, Maine, passed away unexpectedly on June 5, 2023. Eric was born May 10, 1975 in Norway, Maine, to the late Stephen E. Penney and Yvette M. (Penney) LeBlanc. Eric grew up in South Paris and graduated from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. Eric spent his childhood outdoors with his family often at camp at Howard Pond in Hanover. Eric enjoyed all things outdoors, fishing, hiking and hunting. He loved sports especially his New England teams. Eric was a father of three amazing children, Evan, 15, Lauren, 12, and Autumn, 7, of Yorkville, Ill.

Eric worked for RR Donnelley, St. Charles, Ill., in a variety of positions for the past 19 years. He was a brilliant print operator. Eric was often looked to for operational efficiencies. Eric had a dry sense of humor, loved to cook and recently taught himself to play piano. Eric loved to talk sports with his friends. Eric is survived by his mother Yvette LeBlanc and her husband Lee Roy of South Paris. Siblings Tina Hodge of Oakland; Carrie Colley and her husband Michael of Norway; Wade Penney and his wife Angela of Somersworth, N.H.; Pam Cunningham and her husband Dana of Saco; and Doug Penney and wife Jenna Cochrane of Seabrook, N.H. His bonus family Sandra Rice and her partner Jim, of South Paris; Melissa Rice Eshleman and her husband Ed of Norway, and Randy Rice of Norway. His three children and their mother, Pam Plachetka Penney of Yorkville, Ill., eight nieces and nephews and a great niece and nephew. He will be greatly missed by his best friend Omar Magana of Aurora, Ill., and his many friends and co-workers at RR Donnelley. He was predeceased by his father Stephen Penney, brother Dale Penney and maternal and paternal grandparents. Eric selflessly was an organ donor and saved many lives with the help of Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 21, 2023, from 6-8 p.m., at The Victorian, 230 Main St., Norway, ME 04268.
