WATERFORD — Waterford Congregational Church UCC continues ‘Worship Without Walls’ services, held monthly in the churchyard meditation garden; the next service in the series will be on July 23 at 9:30 a.m. “Joining in a space where there are no walls that separate us from the world, reminds us of our oneness with creation and with one another,” says Revered Doretta Colburn.
Musical guests will make the July 23 outdoor service extra special; a nine-member brass ensemble will provide music for the entire service. The group, composed of visiting friends and family of WCC organist George Wiese, includes trumpets, French horns, trombones, and a tuba. “Music in the midst of nature can be a mystical experience,” says Wiese.
“How spectacular that our ‘cathedral’ includes Keoka Lake and the surrounding mountains!” Following the service, there will be an ice cream social hosted by the WCC Deacons. In the event of inclement weather, this service will be held inside the Wilkins Community House.
On July 30, Waterford Congregational Church will hold another special service entitled, ‘Weaving the Future.’ This service, held in the Wilkins Community House at 9:30 a.m., will be a celebration of what makes WCC special and will provide a forum for contributing ideas about the future.
As part of an overarching visioning project, WCC is endeavoring to chart its next steps of serving the community through the “Service, Spirituality, and Music” aspects of its mission. Members, friends, visitors, and the public are heartily welcome to participate in the July 30 event.
