DURHAM — A 48 year-old Freeport woman was seriously injured when her car was struck by a pickup truck on Newell Brook Road on Saturday morning.
Pamela Gee was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center and was listed in fair condition Saturday evening, a nursing supervisor said.
According to Maine State Trooper Chris Farley, the driver of the pickup, Kirk Douglas, 49, of Lisbon Falls, was traveling west on Newell Brook Road when his vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with Gee’s car, which was approaching in the eastbound lane. Gee, who was pinned inside her car, was extricated by Durham fire and rescue personnel.
Douglas suffered minor injuries and was taken to CMMC, Farley said. Damage to his 1988 GMC 1500 pickup was significant, and Gee’s 2002 Honda Civic was demolished in the 8 a.m. crash, police said.
Newell Brook Road was closed to all through traffic between the Swamp and Royalsborough roads intersection for nearly four hours for accident reconstruction. The accident remained under investigation as of late Saturday, Farley said.
