DEAR SUN SPOTS: If Maine voters register as independents, can they vote in both Republican and Democrat primaries? — No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: No. However, starting in January 2024, you can be “unenrolled.” It means don’t “register” to be an independent, as in not being enrolled as either a Democrat or a Republican. You will be able to vote in presidential primaries for EITHER party, but not BOTH!

Furthermore, to clarify, there is the Green Independent party in Maine. If you are registered in that party, there’s a process involved to vote in the primary that includes registering as either a Democrat or Republic to vote, even temporarily.

Go here to find out more about voting information: https://legislature.maine.gov/statutes/21-A/title21-Asec441.html.

You can also contact your municipality. They are there to answer your questions!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for a Bose radio repair person in the Lewiston/Auburn or Norway/Paris area. Are there such repair shops still around? — Susan, Buckfield

ANSWER: I’m stuck on this one so I’m calling out for help from Sun Spotters. Perhaps someone has used a local stereo/radio repair service they can recommend.

I suggest that you pull out your radio manual if you still have it and call the 1-800 number provided. Have your serial and model numbers ready.

For online support, go to https://www.bose.com/. You can insert your radio’s information and go through a trouble-shooting list and/or have an online chat with an agent.

Sadly, if your system is of a certain age, it may be time to treat yourself to a new stereo system. There are lots of good choices out there at a reasonable price, perhaps for less than you would pay for the Bose repair.
