Last week, the club had a social at The Modern Barn when long-time Rotarian Dave Murphy (who was responsible for starting the clubs annual Yard sale and, then, auction more than 30 years ago) recognizes the current yard sale leadership, Scott Hynek and Jean Benedict, and gives them wide brimmed sun hats as a gesture to keep themselves safe during the long hours in the sun at the seven day yard sale held in early August. BETHEL — The past two weeks of Rotary meetings and socials have been devoted to recognition and board member “changeover.” Club President Jean Benedict recognized last year’s board members and their many contributions to our club and community.
Rotarian Ellie Andrews also presented Dave Murphy with Rotary International’s highest honor, a Paul Harris Fellow. Friend and fellow Rotarian Bruce Powell made candid and heartfelt comments on all of Dave’s contributions and accomplishments during his nearly forty-year tenure in the club.
