LEWISTON — Lifelong Lewiston resident Craig Charpentier, Ward 4, is running for election to the Lewiston School Committee.
After graduating from Lewiston High School and attending the University of Southern Maine, Charpentier said he decided to move back to his hometown of Lewiston.
Charpentier believes that his experience in various roles in business management, communications and sales throughout his career, along with his commitment to common-sense principles over politics, have prepared him to serve on the school committee, he said.
As a self-described history and philosophy buff, he believes civic engagement is a necessity and views it as the cornerstone of community well-being, he said. Charpentier thinks his perspective will be a valuable addition to the School Committee, he said.
“I am principled but not political. I believe that parents have the right to know what their children are learning and experiencing in our schools and that all students should be able to rely on schools being places where they can learn in a safe, stable environment,” he said. “By committing to these fundamentals, we will be able to improve student outcomes and ensure that our children graduate workforce-ready or are fully prepared for higher education.”
