DEAR SUN SPOTS: I want to offer a free folding walker with two 5-inch wheels to anyone who could use it at home, a nursing home or an assisted living facility. It can be adjusted to the correct height for the individual’s walking comfort.

Please call me at 207-784-8388 and leave your name, message and telephone number. If I am not available, I will get back to you. The first call gets it. —Rose, Lewiston

ANSWER: Thank you for your generosity, Rose. If you do not receive a call, let me know and I will give you contacts to places in the area where you can donate the walker.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: As we all work toward recognizing  the value of caring for our Earth home, the subject of green burials is becoming more important.

If you have wondered about the possibility of burials without toxic embalming fluids, metal caskets and concrete liners, there will be a program on the topic at 3 p.m. on Oct. 4 at the Bethel Congregational Church at 32 Church St. in Bethel, next to Gould Academy.

Chuck Lakin is to give a talk on this subject, using his many years of experience. We can learn a lot from him.

Please put this free talk on your calendar.—Allidah, Bethel

ANSWER: I have attended one of Chuck’s talks regarding preparing for end-of-life planning. He is engaging, compassionate and informative.

He assists people who want to be more in control of what happens to their body after death or would like to explore ways to care for a loved one’s body after death.

He offers guidance to people who want other options than standard funeral practices and want to explore a simpler burial. He also helps those who would rather have after-death care centered on family and community.

I recommend getting in touch with him or the other advisers listed on this web site: https://www.lastthings.net.

You can also contact Chuck at crlakin@colby.edu or at 207-213-0390 for personal guidance or training and informational talks for a group or organization.
