JAY — The Select Board set two public hearings Monday for Oct. 10 for updates to the General Assistance Appendices and for a Planning Board appointment.

The hearings will be held at 6 p.m. at the Town Office.

Resident Jamie Carden-Leventhal is an alternate member on the Planning Board. She will move to a regular member to replace the late Michael Hobbs. Select Board Chairman Terry Bergeron thanked Hobbs posthumously, for his service on the board and what he has given to the town of Jay.

As assessors, the board granted three tax abatements, three supplemental tax bills and five sewer abatements.

Bergeron also reminded people of a Harvest Moon Walk and Stargazing event hosted by the town’s Recreation Committee at 7 p.m. on Friday at French Falls Park.

He also reminded them of the Apple Pumpkin Festival to be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Livermore Falls Recreation Field.

It will feature a variety of vendors and craft artisans, agricultural products, historical and educational displays, seasonal decorations, antique tractors, raffles and food. The festival is put on by the Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce.
